»Right at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, I started photographing the empty streets of my adopted hometown of New York, but I discovered that I was more interested in the individual people who were still out and about. The scene became more dynamic as soon as a person walked through my picture, the unimaginable emptiness and motionlessness of the city was interrupted, and with every picture created this way I got more hope that we would get through this. Since the New Yorker never just walks but always strides very energetically, I found my name for the project: “Keep Going New York !!”. A call to persevere.
I kept photographing my project for most of the year since I had a lot of time, my commercial assignments were collapsing or being cancelled. At the end of 2020 I designed and then and self-published a small book entitled “Keep Going New York !!” (on the Blurb ‘print on demand’ platform).
My photos and videos of the book in my newsletter and posts on Facebook and Instagram caught the attention of a friend and creative director at an advertising agency who was looking for positive and New York-specific work for a financial institution’s new flagship store.
The agency hired me to shoot stills and video in 20 locations in all 5 boroughs, presented on large LED displays throughout the store.«
