While the morning is reserved for all cooperative members, we cordially invite all laif photographers and interested parties to join us in the afternoon from 2 pm. At the laif Open Stage program you can expect exciting photographic lectures and an inspiring keynote:

14.15 Uhr – 14.45 Uhr: Daniel Pilar

laif photographer Daniel Pilar presents excerpts from his exhibition BLACKOUT, which shows reportages and long-term observations from almost 25 years of photojournalistic work that have taken him to various crisis and war zones around the world. One focus of his presentation will be the war of aggression in Ukraine.

Since starting out as a student in 1999, Daniel Pilar’s photographs have repeatedly shown people in disadvantaged and challenging circumstances. His work ranges from portraits to economic, cultural and political themes in Germany and abroad. Daniel Pilar lives in Hanover and works on commission for various publishers, organizations and companies as well as realizing his own projects.

14.50 – 15.20 Uhr: Jeannette Petri & Marcus Höhn

Queer issues enrich social discourse, but discrimination and violence against LGBTQIA* people continue to increase – in Germany and worldwide. laif photographer Marcus Höhn presents the exhibition and education project THE LINE BETWEEN US, which he initiated and curated together with laif photographer Nora Bibel.

Jeannette Petri, herself non-binary, uses the project BEYOND BINARY to show that gender is an infinite spectrum on which »male« and »female« are merely two points.

15.55 Uhr – 16.25 Uhr: Florian Jeanicke

Florian Jaenicke talks about the visual concept, creation and impact of his two photo columns, which have appeared in ZEIT Magazin since 2019. An intensive insight into life with his son Friedrich, who has severe multiple disabilities.

16.30 – 17.15 Uhr: Lars Boering

Lars Boering was head of the World Press Photo Foundation and now heads the European Journalism Centers. He talks about how the European media landscape can and must reinvent itself – and what this means for visual journalism.
